Film & Video 825 presents:
The State of the World
Personal reflections on war, politics, society, race and gender.
Curated by Michele Jaquis

Echo Park Film Center
1200 N. Alvarado Street (@ Sunset Blvd)
Los Angeles, CA
$5 general admissions

The State of the World includes short films and videos by David Baeumler (Cambridge, MA), Lisa Vinebaum (London), Natalie Frigo (Brooklyn), Jessica Lawless and Wil Nicholson (Los Angeles), Pattrick Mills. R (Cincinnati), Sietske Tjallingii (Amsterdam), and Geoffrey Thomas (Ft. Lauderdale). Through 16 mm film, digital video, animation, and appropriated footage these works reflect, from current perspectives, on timeless issues: war, politics, society, race and gender. The approaches vary from interview style story telling to performance to voice over narrations, however the content can all be distilled to a few basic questions: Who are we? Why are we here? And how do we engage with each other and our surroundings?
