King Abdullah had long been a pro-American as well as a longtime close associate of the United States. In October 1976, he was sent to the United States in order to meet with the President Gerald Ford.
Then in the year 1987, he again made a visit to the United States as Crown Prince so as to meet the Vice President George H. W. Bush.
In the year 2009, at a summit for the world leaders, King Abdullah met with President Barack Obama, while in June 2009, he further hosted President Obama in Saudi Arabia. Consequently, Obama hosted King Abdullah at the White House in that same month.

King Abdullah even showed great support for Barack Obama’s presidency. He even thanked God for bringing Barack Obama to the presidency. He further commented that Obama’s election had created a great hope in the Muslim world.
King Abdullah made a visit to Beijing in the year 2006, and since then Saudi-Chinese relations made their focus primarily on trade as well as energy.
In March 2011, King Abdullah sent the Secretary General of the National Security Council, to China so as to gain its support about the Saudi Arabia’s attitude towards the Arab Spring.
Also, King Abdullah had a belief that China as well as India were the future markets when it comes to Saudi energy.
